Mariam High School came alive with memories and warm reunions on Friday, 9 October 2026, as Old Girls returned to the school for their Homecoming. The date carried special meaning: it also marked Uganda’s Independence Day, adding a spirit of reflection and celebration to the occasion. The gathering brought together former students from different years, alongside former headteachers, members of the school’s leadership and other invited guests. For many Old Girls, returning to the school grounds offered an opportunity to reconnect with former classmates, revisit familiar places and remember the experiences that shaped their time at Mariam High School. Former headteachers and other guests were warmly received as members of the Mariam High School community shared memories and reflected on the school’s journey. Their presence connected generations of the school’s history and highlighted the lasting relationships built between students, teachers and the institution. The Homecoming also provided an opportunity to recognise the role Mariam High School continues to play in the lives of its students and Old Girls. The bonds formed at school often extend well beyond the classroom, and the reunion offered a chance to renew friendships and strengthen the connection between past and present members of the community. As Uganda marked another year of independence, the Old Girls’ return carried its own message of belonging, shared history and pride. Their visit celebrated not only the memories they hold, but also the continuing place Mariam High School occupies in their lives. Mariam High School extends its appreciation to the Old Girls, former headteachers, school leaders and all guests who joined the Homecoming. The school looks forward to welcoming its alumnae back again and continuing to build a strong community across generations.
